The Red Ring of Death strikes without mercy!

That's right, after countless hours of the purest joy and entertainment, my Xbox 360 finally gave up on living. In the middle of an intense fight between humans and locust in Gears of War the console suddenly stopped responding. "Big deal", I though, "I just have to turn it off and on again". When I do that, those dreaded lights suddenly appear before, mocking me, laughing at me, while all my dreams shatter and tears start to form in the corners of my eye...

Ok, enough bullshit, but the fact is that, while I spent some months barely touching my beloved 360 (lack of games and money to buy them), the fucking bitch had to stop working right when Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect and many other great games are released. Like our wise Father once said: "Oh bloody hell! Fuck arse and bollocks!".

At least the Microsoft support is known for being quick, efficient and free. Already called the support line and now I just have to wait a couple weeks to have my baby back (or a new one, in case mine is FUBAR)(that's "fucked up beyond all reason", folks).

By the way, more than 1000 visits so far! Ok, 800 to 900 are probably mine, but what the heck, it's impressive nonetheless!

Ok, that's unfair...

A common misconception about the ring is that the games have an influence on the ring appearing. That is completely false because I have seen first hand a brand new 360 succumbing to the red ring without even putting any games inside of the console. By the way, I also am in fear of my 360 have a similar fate as yours as I am playing Mass Effect.

I'm hopefully about 3 weeks away from ownership of a 360 ( "the kids" are getting one for Christmas)MWWUUAAAHHHAAA!!! ;)

Is it inevitable that they fuck up?

Have Microsoft ironed out the wrinkles or are they all doomed?

funnyman, hope your console is doing fine :)

Father, not really, I think the newer ones usually work fine. Mine was one of the earlier models (it was made 1 month after they launched, according to the serial number).

By the way, already sent the console. Now I just have to wait.

I appreciate your concern NebachadnezzaR. Yes, the console itself is fine. But I had a problem with the controller. It died recently. I suppose the battery was easily drained when my brother played Asssassin's Creed for 900 straight hours.

By the way, how much are you paying to ship it off to Microsoft? Is it a standard price for all states in the US?

Glad to hear that :)

About shipping costs, the whole service is free! This is great, since I live in Portugal and the european repair centre is in Germany, and such a long trip should be quite pricey.

A little off topic, Guys... I have a question. A week ago I trapped on this site:
Rivalspot.com - Ps3 Live Tournaments
They say you can play online Football game tournaments on any console for cash... had anyone tried that before? Looks like a cool idea...
Are there any other sites where you can play sports games for real moneys? I Googled and found only Bringit.com and Worldgaming.com but it looks these guys don't specialize in sport gamez. Any suggestions?
